Moisture Control
The #1 struggle for maintaining infield surfaces in the Tri-state area!
In virtually every effort put forth in infield maintenance, we are addressing the need to control moisture. In the Spring, we deal with excess ground water and missed games. During the season, we work to recover from heavy rains. Late June through August bring dry fields which become dusty and compacted. Efforts to nail drag and loosen rock hard surfaces become futile, creating dust and enhancing erosion. Erosion moves the infield mix into the turf portions of our field creating low spots and lips.
CONDITION YOUR SURFACE
CALCINED CLAY
With the ability to hold its own weight in water, this is one of the best conditioners on the market today. Many, if not all of professional facilities utilize calcined clay to control excess moisture, help alleviate compaction, and optimize athletic performance.
- Apply to your infield surface and incorporate into the top 1 to 2 inches.
- Mat drag and compact the newly conditioned surface.
- Apply another portion to remain on your surface as a topdressing and nail drag or scarify the top 3/8ths inch for play.
- Water to maintain moisture content
VITRIFIED CLAY
This deep red conditioner not only conditions your sur- face, but it also gives your field that “professional look”. When applied to your surface, this product improves the soil’s ability to recover from rains and resists erosion.
